Our regional health system includes Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, Saint Thomas West Hospital and Saint Thomas Hospital for Spinal Surgery in Nashville, Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro and Saint Thomas Hickman Hospital in Centerville – as well as four hospitals operated by Capella – Saint Thomas Health. Our system is supported by a comprehensive network of affiliated joint ventures, medical practices, clinics and rehabilitation facilities. We provide a new platform for health care delivery through MissionPoint Health Partners, Saint Thomas Health’s accountable care organization formed in 2011.
Our team is available to assist all news media with questions about our hospitals, patients, locating an expert for a story or obtaining more information about a news release or event. While we are dedicated to assisting you in the most accurate and timely coverage, our first priority is protecting the privacy and security of our patients. It is for that reason that we strictly follow the guidelines set out in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) governing patient privacy.
In accordance with HIPPA, the following criteria have been established:
- Advance notice of on-site interviews is requested so we can arrange interviews with experts or obtain appropriate patient permission if necessary. To ensure federal patient privacy standards are upheld for all hospital patients and their families and in accordance with Saint Thomas Health policy, a member of the Communications team must accompany all reporters and photographers while on hospital property.
- All inquiries regarding specific patients must include the full name and correct spelling.
- If the patient has not requested information be withheld, we are allowed to relay a one-word condition about the patient.
Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with Communications staff available by cell phone after hours and on weekends. During office hours, call or email.
