Women ‘Go Red’ to Fight Heart Disease

As you walked into the Music City Center, it was hard not to see RED.  Women, and some men, were decked out in red dresses and red ties for the annual Go Red for Women Wellness Expo & Luncheon on April 27, 2017.   The presenting sponsor of the event was Saint Thomas Health, a part of Ascension.

In this video, Liz Schatzlein, a part of the executive leadership team for AHA Go Red for Women, talks about why this event is so much more than dressing up in red.  According to the American Heart Association, heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year – more than all cancers combined.  Schatzlein says women have the power to change those numbers because 80% of all cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.
