Saint Thomas Health executives, physicians, nurses and staff members picked up a sledgehammer and busted through a wall at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital. The ceremonial wall breaking signified the beginning of a multi-million dollar renovation and remodeling project on the obstetrics floor at Midtown.
The first phase of the project will focus on the high risk, prenatal, guest waiting and education centers on the 3rd floor. The wing will undergo significant upgrades to enhance the patient and family experience before, during and after the birth of a child. Phase one is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.
The second phase of the project will begin this summer and will include similar enhancements to the labor and delivery wing and obstetrics triage area.
The other big announcement was that all women’s services are coming together under one common name: Saint Thomas Women’s Care.
